Mattie E. Gillis, 209 Dunn Ave., widow of Joseph Gillis, died early Friday afternoon in Culver Hospital. She was born March 2, 1877, in Montgomery County near New Market, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey E. Brown. She married Mr. Gillis in 1895 in New Market. He was a carpenter and contractor. Mr. Gillis preceded her in death Sept. 21, 1948. Mrs. Gillis attended Montgomery County schools. She was a charter member of the EUB Church. She and her husband lived in New Market prior to moving here. Survivors include three sons, Alfred M. Gillis of Syracuse, Ind., Clyde J. Gillis, 209 Dunn Ave., and Paul B. Gillis of New Albany, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A sister and two brothers are deceased. Funeral services are set for ?? a.m. Monday at Bright Funeral Home with Rev. Bennett Fulp officiating and burial in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday. - typed by Chris M.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie E. Gillis were conducted Monday morning at the Bright Funeral Home with Rev. Bennett Fulp as the officiating minister. Curtis E. Bright was the organist. Pallbearers who aslo assisted with the flowers were Russell Heath, Robert L. Surber, Carl Bruder, Horace W. Hatch, Dwight Williams and Donald D. Fyffe. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery - typed by kbz
